International Black Economic Forum
A force on the rise

International Black Economic Forum — October 18–20, 2026

5th editionOctober 18–20, 2026
Campus MIL — Sciences Complex of the Université de Montréal

The world is changing. So are we.

Everywhere, Black entrepreneurship, investment and cultural creation are redefining the global economy. Yet too often, our communities remain on the margins of the decisions that shape their own future. IBEF exists to change that balance of power.

We build.We invest.We create.We innovate.We influence.We lead.We connect.We pass it on.We thrive.

This 5th edition brings together leaders from Black communities across Canada, several African countries, the West Indies, France, Latin America and the United States, to turn economic integration, entrepreneurship, policy, innovation and science into lasting prosperity.

Mango tree

The theme

That’s the theme of this 5th edition — and the mango tree is its living embodiment. A symbol of life, stability and prosperity, it grows throughout Black Africa (Sub-Saharan Africa) and the West Indies, symbolically linking Black communities around the world. More than 550 varieties are found between the West Indies and Black Africa — a diversity that mirrors that of Black nations themselves: alike, yet different, and on the rise.

RootsThe history and economic legacy already built by our communities.
TrunkThe resilience that has kept us standing despite structural obstacles.
BranchesThe network that grows a little more every day.
FruitEvery face, every story: living proof that a force is indeed on the rise.

Like the mango tree, which thrives in the most fertile environments, IBEF explores concrete strategies to strengthen the economic influence of our communities and foster sustainable, inclusive growth.

On the agenda

Location and practical information

IBEF’s 1st edition was held at UQAM’s Cœur des sciences, the 2nd at the Centre des sciences du Vieux-Port. This 5th edition takes up residence at the Sciences Complex of the Université de Montréal, on Campus MIL — a building designed to train the next generation of scientists and put into action the ideas that will transform our world.

It’s no coincidence that we’re settling into a place where innovation — and its commercialization — take centre stage. We too want to put into action the ideas that will transform Black communities, our world.
